MICROPLATE HISTORY

A Microplate or Multiwell is a flat plate/tray/panel/dish with multiple test tubes. This is perhaps the best way to describe this versatile format that is now a standard in analytical, clinical, diagnostic testing and storage of compounds and media.

CANCER RESEARCH UK IS CONDUCTING A trial looking at TroVax for advanced kidney cancer (TRIST)

This trial is looking at the combination of standard treatment and a vaccine called TroVax for advanced kidney cancer (renal cell cancer).

Kidney cancer that is locally advanced or has spread to somewhere else in the body can be difficult to treat. Doctors are always looking for new treatments, or new combinations of treatments, that may work better.

TroVax has been used in clinical trials for other types of cancer before. It is a type of immunotherapy. This means it uses the immune system to help kill cancer cells. Researchers think that giving TroVax alongside one of the standard treatments for renal cell cancer may work better than standard treatment alone. But they are not sure yet.
